Lenovo K320t

Here goes a budget smartphone from the Chinese Multinational Company Lenovo in the January 2018’s Lenovo K320t. Now this is a budget smartphone that I feel came way ahead of its time.  I say so because it exhibits a couple of features that I wouldn’t expect to see on a budget smartphone in January of 2018, in November onwards yes and maybe, but just not in January. So what really does this phone have to offer? It is the reason for this article review. First we take a look at its main features then later on we shall describe them in detail. Below it goes.

Lenovo K320t is available in color black only. Trust me, you do not want a blue or red or green Lenovo K320t. It makes more sense rocked in black.

Communication and networking

This is a 4G enabled smartphone. That also means 3G and 2G are well covered for here. The beauty of 4G is that it makes you access the internet faster. Other featured communication and networking properties here include Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, Wi-Fi Direct, hotspot, Bluetooth 4.2, A2DP, LE, GPS Yes, with A-GPS, an FM radio and a Micro USB 2.0, USB On-The-Go.

Design and build

The back:

First I love how that fingerprint scanner shines on its edges. It is nothing really just a minor detail that would interest some. It has been placed in an easy to reach position on the back- that is just about three quarter way towards the top. Then we also see a dual camera set up on the top right corner with an LED flash to its right. This is all we see on the back of the Lenovo K320t. It has been kept clean and simple- and simple can be good sometimes, it is here.

The front:

The front has also maintained that clean finish we see on the back with an untouched bottom bezel chin and a top bezel that houses a selfie camera, a speaker and what seem to be a bunch of sensors. These sensors are barely visible given the color of Lenovo K320t.

The sides:

Are shinny and house the volume rocker and power button on the same side.

It has these dimensions 155.2 x 73.5 x 8.5 mm and is quite light weighing just about 153.8 g, thanks to its plastic build.

Display and camera

Display

The K320t comes with a 5.7 inches IPS LCD capacitive touchscreen. This is among the very few phablet smartphones you will find at this price point. With such a large display (83.8 cm2) estate you surely will enjoy interacting with your smartphone. Other features mentioned for it include 720 x 1440 pixels resolution, an 18:9 aspect ratio, ~282 ppi density and support for multi touch and 16M colors. That screen to body ratio stands at (~73.5%).

A bright display it is with good blues, greens and reds.

Camera

Rarely will you find a dual camera on a budget smartphone. Well unless it is a Lenovo K320t. that 8 MP, f/2.0, AF Primary camera it comes with is well supported by a 2 MP, f/2.2 depth sensor and an LED flash light for them dimly light scenes. It also shoots videos at 1080p@30fps. Then comes the front facing camera which is an 8 MP, f/2.2. Quire decent at its assignment I’d say. Almost as decent as the main camera. But I do fancy the selfie camera here more for the good work it does.

Performance and memory

Platform

I am not very familiar with the Spreadtrum chipset it comes with but I can say it holds up just fine. Lenovo K320t worked quite as expected for me. Maybe because of the Quad-core 1.3 GHz Cortex-A7 CPU which I can relate to or maybe because it is just solid in this department. I also have to mention that it has a Mali-400 GPU.

Memory

There is a 32 GB K320t that runs on 3 GB RAM, a 16 GB one with 2 or 3 GB RAM. That is three versions of the same model. Of course you pay more for larger memory. But in case otherwise you can expand internal memory (for all three versions) using a Micro SD, up to 128 GB.

Battery

On paper its Non-removable Li-Ion 3000 mAh battery seems a small capacity but real time it proves otherwise. Expect good batter life with this one.

Pros Cons
  • Very much affordable
  • Good look
  • Decent battery
  • Relatively low memory (can be expanded using memory card)
