The Desire line of HTC has been a mid-range line of smartphones for a long long time now. I believe any time you here there is a new HTC Desire smartphone in the market the best believe it is one you wont have to stretch to extremes to afford. This article is a review of the subject phone, the HTC Desire 10 Compact. But before we do a full review, let us list down its main features for the sake of persons interested in that alone. Here;

Mediatek M6737T chipset
Quad core 1.5 GHz Cortex A7 CPU

With that being said, let us now do an in depth review of HTC Desire 10 Compact which was released during the first quarter of the year 2017.
Design and build
Is that a metal and plastic build on the HTC Desire 10 compact? I bet it is. Being that you don’t get that cold metal touch when you hold it, I wouldn’t say it is fully metallic. And also, it has a hard tactile build that doesn’t feel anything close to plastic. On the back are two antennae lines running on the top and bottom parts of this phone. They really add on the look of the HTC Desire 10 compact.
We also see the round primary camera which we shall discuss later one. Beside it is the flash that enhances the clarity of low light pictures or pictures taken in low light conditions. There is ‘HTC’ branding on the middle back of this phone as well. On the front is the 5.0 inches display panel, HTC branding on the bottom bezel while the top bezel houses the selfie camera, two sensors (one which I presume is a light sensor) and the call speaker on the middle. Volume rocker and power button are on different sides of this phone.
The design is simple, clean and good looking. It is a mid-range smartphone that may even standout in the midst of some high end devices. Be sure to check its pictures out online.
Display and camera
HTC Desire 10 compact has a screen resolution of 720 x 1280 pixels (294 ppi pixel density). It is a 5.0 inches display panel of 16:9 ratio, an IPS LCD capacitive touch screen that has functional support for multi touch and `16M colors. It is an above average display this one. Not a lot going on for it. But that is quite okay for a phone in its range.
We get two cameras here. The primary shooter is a 13MP camera with autofocus and an LED flash. Geo tagging, touch focus, face detection, HDR and panorama are among the camera feature on board here. Then there is the 5MP selfie camera on the HTC Desire compact. Its performance is fine, just a little filters and we are good to go. In my experience, I have come to learn that. Get an above average selfie shooter, play around with filters for better looking photos. And of this of course is a phone that will support a variety of photo editing applications.
Video recording here stands at 1080p@30fps.
Performance and memory
The performance of any smartphone determines what range it lies. Now once or twice you have read the HTC Desire 10 compact is a mid-range smartphone, here is why. First, it is a Mediatek phone with a Mediatek MT6737T chipset and it has a Quad core 1.5 GHz CPU, or processor if you like. Also to note, it runs on android 6.o marshmallow. I have to say, I personally expected Nougat since this smartphone was released way after Nougat 7.1 hit the marker. Not a deal breaker though, Android 6.0 is still great.
Well not a lot to talk about here. 32GB + 3GB RAM. The internal memory can be expanded up to 128GB using an external SD card. The RAM count on this phone makes it run unbelievably smooth.
It has a sealed 3300mAh battery.
Communication and memory
Network- GSM, HSPA and LTE (4G).
WLAN (wi-fi, hotspot), bluetooth 4.1 GPS (with A-GPS), FM Radio and microUSB 2.0.
