Asus Zenfone 2 64GB
This is a review of the Asus Zenfone 2, which is the predecessor of Asus Zenfone 2 Laser. Released in March 2015, this phone felt ahead of its time at that time and even to date, it has held up just fine. This overview is for features and specs the Zenfone 2 comes with. I have to say it is one of the top 2015 mid rage smart phones and surprisingly it is still up on the mid range rank today. Let us take a look at the Asus Zenfone 2 smartphone by ASUS.
Design and build
Asus added a little twist to its signature design with the Zenfone 2. A design I personally enjoyed. Do check the links attached below for a more vivid view of the same. On the back owe have an interesting setup of the LED flash first, the primary camera, the laser focus strip then followed by ASUS branding. It has these curved edges all round the back panel that gives it a smooth finish. Holding the phone in the hand as a result of the same. The face of the phone however features ASUS’s typical design. A 5.5 inches display panel meets you. A strip of three touch sensitive home, recent and back keys. The bottom bezel has the strip mentioned above and another reflective one just to add on the looks of this phone. It stands at 152.5mm tall, 77.2m wide and is 10.9 mm thick. At 172 grams the phone is rather light. The Asus Zenfone 2 looks good in general.
As already mentioned, there is a 5.5 inches display panel on t board with a 70.8% screen to body ratio. It is a IPS LCD capacitive touch screen that supports 16 million colors and has a resolution of 1080 x 1920 pixels (401 ppi pixel density). It is mainly bright for what you get which is a good thing. Viewing angles are okay when the display is set to certain softness levels.
We get two cameras with the Asus Zenfone 2. The selfie shooter is a 5MP one with f/2.0 aperture. Then the primary camera with a 13MP count and f/2.0 aperture with auto focus. It also has that complementary dual LED flash. You get decent pictures here with both cameras especially in good lighting conditions. Software features are also available here. Geo tagging, touch focus, face detection, panorama, HDR modes just to mention a few. It is a good camera overall. Yes and video recording on the Zenfone 2 stands at [email protected]
Performance and memory
There are three versions of ASUS Zenfone two, all differentiated by their internal memories. There is the 16 GB or the 32GB or 64GB version. All have an option of either 2 or 4GB RAM. Prices will carry depending the version you decide to for. Still the memory can be expanded using a microSD card up to 256GB.
Pre installed android version 5.0 lollipop can be upgraded to 6.0 marshmallow. It is however themed with Asus ZenUI. The PowerVR GPU is the same for whichever model you decide to pick. For the chipset it is either Intel Atom Z3580 (4GB model), Intel Atom Z3560 (2GB RAM). The same is the case with the CPU either Quad core 2.3 GHZ ( 4GB RAM version) or Quad core 1.8GHz ( 2GB RAM version).
The 64GB version comes with 4GB of RAM.
Non removable Li-Po 3000mAh battery on board. There is support for quick charging on the Zenfone 2. 60% in 40 minutes, amazing.
Connectivity and network
Support for wifi, wifi direct, hotspot, Bluetooth 4.0, GPS with A-GPS, GLONASS, NFC, FM Radio and micro USB 2.0 port.
Network: dual SIM with dual standby. GSM 2G, HSPA 3G and LTE 4G.
There is support for vibration, MP3, WAV ringtones, the loudspeaker on the Asus Zenfone 2 Laser is a good one (sounds very well) and it has a 3.5mm jack .
Other features on board include accelerometer, gyro, proximity compass, a HTML5 browser, 5GB free lifetime ASUS Web storage (this is more of a gift from ASUS with this phone), an MP3/4 player, photo editor and document viewer.
Asus Zenfone 2 is a solid phone. I personally enjoyed what it had to offer. It is a phone I boldly recommend. It comes in black, gold, gray, red or white colors. Have your choice.
