FERO POWER 2
For those who have been closely following Fero, by now you should know that Fero names their smartphones based on the selling points they have. This time we have the Fero Power 2. Let us give it a guess. First, naming it Power 2 clearly suggests there must be a Power 1 or just Power smartphone by Fero. Then the power part of it suggests it is either a power house (battery capacity) or a power horse (processing power). In any case, Fero’s slogan for this phone is ‘THE POWER TO BE YOUR BEST.’ Only one way to find out how. This is an overview of Fero Power 2. Let us dig in.
Design and build
This is a compact (comfortably small) smartphone of dimensions 145.2 x 72.2 x 10.2 mm and weighs 137 grams. It is comfy to use on one hand. Its back features a Textured Poly-Carbonate based back panel which gives it good grip. On its front top bezel is a selfie camera, a sensor and an earpiece, bottom bezel has three touch sensitive home, recent and back keys. In between the bezels is a 5.0 inches display. Its back has that typical Fero design with a camera and a flash below it, Fero branding and a speaker grill which is an actual speaker at the lower bottom. Nothing really out of the ordinary here. The volume rocker and power button(s) are on one side of the Fero Power 2.
Fero Power 2 comes with a 5.0-inch IPS Display. It has a resolution of 720 x 1280 pixels (293ppi). The main focus of this display is brightness. So yes the screen does light up well. This display does have support for multi touch and 16 million colors. Also to mention it’s a high definition display panel. I have no grievances with this display since it does hold up just fine. It is twice the 480 x 854 pixels offered by its forerunner so this one does even look better. The display is protected with dragontail glass.
Fero Power 2 comes with two average camera which I will not dwell describing. A 5 MP primary camera on the rear, with an LED flash and 5MP video recording capability. Then a 2 MP front facing camera for selfies. Better the primary camera but if you are a selfie person, this is not the phone for you. It is a selfie camera that you will mainly use for vide calls and such functions but not as a daily selfie shooting drive. But okay, since Fero’s focus wasn’t on the cameras of this phone, they are excused.
Performance and memory
Fero Power 2 runs on Android OS, v6.0 (Marshmallow) straight from its package with basic google apps already pre-installed. It has a Mediatek MTK6580 chipset which is a 1.3 GHz, Quad Core CPU and a Mali 400 GPU for graphic processing.
It does come with an internal memory of 8 GB + 1 GB of RAM. The memory can be expanded up to 32 GB (dedicated slot) using an SD card. Now, as we see mid-range, budget phone performance on the Fero Power 2 meaning it doesn’t derive its name Power from its performance ability, the only other option is the battery capacity.
The battery on the Fero Power 2 is its main selling point. It packs a removable 4000mAh battery. This is a capacity you will rarely find in any 5.0 inch smartphone. So for folks looking to buy a smartphone that has good battery capacity should consider this Fero Power 2. It is a capacity that will see you last up to 3 days (depending on your usage).
Connectivity, network and sound
There is support for Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, dual-band, Wi-Fi Direct, hotspot, FM radio, Bluetooth 4.0, GPS and it has micro USB 2.0.
Network: dual sim (micro). 2G and 3G only.
Sound: loud speaker and 3.5mm jack present here.
It is a good phone I will mainly recommend for its good battery capacity.
