HTC Desire 530

HTC has added to its desire line the HTC Desire 530. A midrange budget smartphone that is for persons who don’t really taker high end specs a big deal and just want a good smartphone that can get the work done. It is the smaller brother of HTC Desire 630 check it out which is a more powerful device for those looking for the same. This is an overview of HTC Desire 530, let us take a look.

Design and build

I love the detail added to the HTC Desire 530. It has these paint sprinkles on the back that makes it look colorful. HTC calls it micro splash speckles. It does add some good look to the phone. The back is a snap on casing and has the primary camera with a flash right below it put on the top let corner. Then there is HTC’s branding in the middle of the back. The face of the phone features speaker grills on the top and bottom bezels, HTC branding and a 5.0 inches display panel. On the top left corner of the phone is the selfie camera. The phone looks good and is enclosed in a poly carbonate plastic case. The edges are rounded giving it easy to hold. It measures 146.9 x 70.9 x 8.3 mm in dimension and weighs 140 grams.

As already mentioned the display panel on the HTC Desire 530 comes with a 5.0 inches with a 66.2% screen-to-body ratio and a 720 x 1280 pixels (~294 ppi pixel density) resolution. It is a Super LCD capacitive touchscreen that supports 16 million colors and multi touch. Expect an above average display here. On one you will appreciate considering the price you will buy the HTC Desire 530 for. Brightness is great though on this display that I have to give it.

HTC Desire 530 comes with a 8 MP primary camera with f/2.4 aperture, autofocus and an LED flash. Then a secondary 5 MP of f/2.8 aperture. Both cameras are okay. They give okay picture quality especially in good light conditions. The primary camera suffers a little in low light until you remember you have the LED flash on board. Yes but all the same, it is a budget phone so with it you get okay picture quality. This camera has software features like Geo-tagging, touch focus, face detection, HDR, panorama preinstalled. Video recording stands at [email protected] and it also is an above average performer here.

Performance and memory

HTC Desire 530 comes with a Qualcomm MSM8909 Snapdragon 210 chipset, a Quad-core 1.1 GHz Cortex-A7 CPU for processing performance and Adreno 304 GPU for graphics performance. It comes running on Android 6.0 (Marshmallow) with HTC’s Sense UI theming the phone all through. The OS performance is light and nice, more than what one would expect to get here.

Internal memory is 16 GB with 1.5 GB RAM. It can be expanded with a microSD, up to 256 GB (dedicated slot).

A non-removable Li-Ion 2200 mAh battery on HTC Desire 530. Okay battery capacity. Should last you a day or two depending on your usage. And given this phone comes with a 5.0 inches display, it is a decent capacity.

Connectivity and network

There is support for Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, hotspot, Bluetooth 4.2, GPS with A-GPS, GLONASS, NFC (depending on which market you are), an FM Radio and it comes with a microUSB 2.0.

Network: Nano SIM. GSM 2G, HSPA 3G and LTE 4G. It is a good thing to see 4G on a budget smartphone.

We get dual front facing speakers with the HTC Desire 530. Great sound and audio quality especially on loudspeaker. The 3.5mm jack is present on this phone.

The HTC Desire 530 is one good budget smartphone I would recommend for folks looking to but a nice smartphone and are on a tight budget. It comes in various color. You get the paint sprinkles on the back case regardless of the one you go for.
