I can already tell what kind of smartphone is, a high end device. Below is an in depth review of the Huawei Mate 10 which comes in three versions i.e L09, L29 and AL00.
Design and build
It is 2017 and all smartphone companies know for the build of high end and flagship smartphone they have to be very keen. It is little details that spoil the broth. On the Huawei Mate 10 we front and back glass build with aluminum frames. It still puzzles me why a phone of this kind of build does not have wireless charging, I mean come on Huawei. But no big deal, I believe that is a feature Huawei reserves for its flagship devices. I love the detail on the back where the cameras lie. A horizontal strip that adds to the look of this phone houses the centrally placed vertically placed cameras with an LED flash beside them. Facing you is its 5.9 inches display panel. I do appreciate the reduced bezels on this phone, that’s a step to the future. Speaking of which, the top bezel has the selfie camera, call speaker and sensor while the bottom one has a physical home button which serves as a fingerprint scanner as well. Also to mention, this 150.5 mm tall phone weighs 186grams and is IP53 certified, that is dust and water splash protection is on deck here.
Display and camera
It comes with a 5.9 inches IPS LCD capacitive touch screen with 16M colors support and multi touch as well. It is a decent display in my opinion. With a resolution of 1440 x 2560 pixels (499ppi pixel density) resolution, 81% screen to body ration and a 16:9 aspect ratio, it is a display you will enjoy interacting with. Although the version is unspecified, Huawei assures us of Corning Gorilla Glass protection on this phone.
The primary camera is 12MP and 20MP. I like the features on board here, that is besides the good old geo tagging, touch focus, face/smile detection, HDR and panorama. Here we see Huawei throwing in other features like 2x lossless zoom, LEICA optics lenses, phase detection & laser detection and the flash is a dual LED one with dual tone flash.
Video recording here kicks in at 2160p@30fps, 1080p@30/60fps while the selfie camera records a pixel count of 8MP. My verdict for the camera performance on the Huawei Mate 10 is 7.5 out of 10.
Performance and memory
It is Android Oreo 8.0 that is installed on this smartphone straight out its package. That’s a good move there. We also get HiSilicon Kirin 970 chipset, and Octa core (4 x 2.4 GHz Cortex A-73 & 4 x 1.8GHz Cortex A53) CPU and a Mali G72 MP12 GPU.
64 GB of internal memory to save whatever people save? No? Then no problem still, it can be expanded up to 256GB – for the Dual SIM version only though, make a wise choice when you do.
Huawei Mate 10 runs on 4GB of RAM for all its versions.
Its 4000mAh battery will last up to a full day of usage until next quick charge. That’s right Fast battery charging 4.5V/5A will juice your smartphone from 0-58% in 30 minutes. That’s real quick.
