I have been following keenly on the P line of Huawei smart phones. I remember very well the likes of the P10, P9, P7 and many other P models of Huawei phones. Thankfully, not once and not with any model did Huawei disappoint with this line. They may have with others (and the may is very strong dear reader) but never with the P line. This article is a review of yet another P smartphone by Huawei, the 2018 Huawei P20. Now expect this to be a big deal because P SMARTPHONES are all Huawei flagships. Below are its main and key features.

What can I say here? This is truly a beast of a phone. Below is its in depth analysis.
Design and build
Now before I go any further I would love to express my grievances with this smartphone. And it is quite valid. I would have loved to see an IP68 certified smartphone on the Huawei P20, splash proof is okay but, the ultimate water proof bargain would be even better. Anyway not to worry since its bigger brother the Huawei P20 Pro comes with the water and dust resistant feature if you mind. But moving on, every other aspect of the design and build of this phone nails it big time. First the looks, then the material used to complete this beauty of a beast. The front features and almost side bezel less phone with the display stretching all the way. The same is the case for the top bezel which only allows room for the front facing camera, call speaker and sensor. I love that the bottom bezel follows suit as well, being kept neat with a home button that serves as a fingerprint scanner as well. The back has vertically placed everything. The top right corner features the dual primary camera with LED flash and the bottom right corner has HUAWEI branding. Its rounded corners allow for a smooth and seamless finish. I love the looks going with this phone for real and I am pretty sure many other people share in my affection for the Huawei P20. It weighs just about 165 grams.
Display and camera
Here we get an impressive 5.8 inches LTPS IPS LCD capacitive touch screen. It has an 80% screen to body ratio and sits on 85% of the face of the P20. With a resolution of 1080 x 2240 pixels and a high 429 ppi pixel density you get a high quality display with crisp and detailed everything on it. Its viewing angles are also very great so even at an acute angle you still can see what is on your display. Huawei did a very impressive job when it came to the display of this phone, that I MUST mention.
Camera performance on this phone is wowing. Hear this. Its primary camera is a dual 12MP + 20MP shooter with leica optics (made by LEICA), 2X lossless zoom, phase detection autofocus, laser autofocus and an LED FLASH. Other features include geo tagging, HDR and Panorama modes. Available as well is Optical Image Stabilization.
The selfie camera on the other hand is a super 24MP shooter. I believe this count can speak for itself, really impressive performer at its work as you will find out.
Video recording is 4K that’s 2160p@30fps.
On a scale, I rate camera performance of this smartphone at 9 out of an impossible 10.
Performance and memory
It runs on Android Oreo 8.0 straight out of its package with Huawei’s own HiSilicon Kirin 970 chipset and an Octa core (4 x 2.4 GHz Cortex A73 & 1.8 GHz Cortex A53) CPU. A Mali G72 MP`12 powers its graphics. Friends don’t expect a smartphone with such performance to hang or even show a little bit of lag. This is a power horse.
Unless using cloud services, its 128GBinternal storage cannot be expanded. And it comes running on 4GB of RAM.
Its 3400mAh battery has an endurance rating of 75 hours. It should see you through a whole day of usage. I am glad to report that there is support for fast battery charging on the Huawei P20.
This is a high end and flagship smartphone. It nails it in all possible departments as discussed above and should you decide to go for it, you will get it in a variety of colors: that’s twilight, black, midnight blue and pink gold.
