Infinix Note 5 Stylus

This article will attempt to comprehensively describe the Infinix Note 5 Stylus which comes some time after the Infinix Note 5 and is dubbed the Pro version of. In case you did not know, Infinix have been doing a Note line of phablet smartphones. I say so because the godfather of the Note line of smartphones is Samsung with the likes of the Galaxy Note 5, Note 7 FE, the Note 8 exedra.

Check them out at Phone Place Kenya. One thing I always say, if you have to borrow from (copy) another smartphone company, then be advised to borrow only the good stuff. Over the years Infinix Note smartphones have proven quite solid and we can only hope it gets better here on the Note 5 Stylus. Without further a due let us go straight into the review. Below is a list of the features this phone possesses.

Main features

  • 2G, 3G and 4G network technology
  • 6.0 inch display
  • 1080 x 2160 pixels resolution
  • Android Oreo OS; Android One
  • Octa-Core processor
  • Mediatek Helio P23 chipset
  • 4 GB RAM
  • 64 GB internal storage
  • Micro SD card support up to 128 GB
  • Primary camera: 16MP
  • Dual LED flash
  • Front facing camera: 16MP
  • Connectivity: Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, GPS, FM radio, USB
  • Sensors: Fingerprint, accelerometer, proximity, compass
  • 4000 mAh battery

Connectivity and network

This is where I confirm that Infinix Note 5 Stylus is a 4G enabled smartphone. That means it offers better and faster connection to the internet. Besides that it is Wi-Fi enables, GPS and has USB. What it shockingly doesn’t have is NFC. But some of us are not as shocked. I men when did we ever see NFC on any Infinix smartphone? I think it is about time. Anyway, call reception here is great and Bluetooth also works just fine.

Design and build

Okay this is a Note smartphone. All notes are big phones and this one is no exception.  I have not its dimensions but it is a 6.0 inches device. Hopefully that should give a rough idea of it. Note smartphones initially were a bridge between tablets and smartphones. But that isn’t really the case now since other smartphones (that aren’t Note) have 6.0 inches plus displays. Anyway on the back of the Infinix Note 5 Stylus has that rear camera setup in a black section placed in vertical orientation.

The camera has a dual LED flash besides it and INFINIX branding below. A fingerprint scanner is also well placed right below that primary camera and it is very easy to reach. Down below is NOTE branding. There is no notch here so don’t expect to see one. I am not an actual fan of the notch really. So we see conserved habits here with a top bezel and a bottom chin. The chin has been kept clean while that top bezel houses the usual inhabitants in the selfie camera, call speaker and a bunch of sensors. Volume rocker and power button are on the sides just as one would expect.

X-Pen

Enjoy navigating your smartphone with the stylus pen it comes with. Infinix calls it the X-Pen and with it user interaction is made more interesting. It does have a few tricks up its sleeves as you will learn in your day to day usage. This pen forms part of the Note 5 Stylus, and it even is the reason for how it was named. Unlike the earlier Note 5, the 5 Stylus comes with a stylus pen and better functionality.

Display and camera

Display

1080 x 2160 pixels resolution on a 6.0 inch display is a respectable sight. I love how well colors are presented here and how wide the viewing angles can get here. Outdoor visibility is also worth a mention just because some people use their phones outside more than they do indoors. And here, with the Infinix Note 5 Stylus you will not have to twitch your eyes in order to see what is on your display while you go about your business outside. Oh and have I mentioned how large that display estate is? You sure will enjoy interacting with this smartphone- keep in mid there is a stylus pen to make the experience even more enjoyable.

Camera

In these days where phones have up to four cameras, Infinix opted to keep things simple. We see two cameras here. One the front, a 16 MP lens and yet another 16MP lens on the back. The one on the back is the primary camera. Both lenses are excellent in their assignments taking crisp photos and even clearer and detailed ones in well light conditions.

On the back we see a dual LED flash that comes in handy to the primary camera in dimly light scenes. We would have loved to see a flash on the front too but, it is well. For its cameras, I would most definitely recommend this smartphone.

Performance and memory

Platform

This is a Mediatek smartphone with a Mediatek Helio P23 chipset. Its activities are processed by an Octa-Core CPU and it runs Android Oreo OS; Android One. I love that Infinix decided to dump that OS they used to have back in the days for pure android, way to go Infinix.

Memory

With 64 GB of internal storage you still get ab option of using a Micro SD card support to expand it up to 128 GB. This is a great deal really and it gets even greater when we mention that this phone runs on 4 GB RAM- smooth and seamless you will love it.

Battery

Another thing I love about this phone is its 4000 mAh battery that lasts and lasts and lasts.  A powerhouse it is that will not need very regular charging intervals. Be assured you will finish the day with a good amount of charge left on your phone.

Pros Cons
  • Very impressive cameras
  • Great battery life
  • Good quality on build
  • Great look going for it
  • No NFC
  • Heavy
