Infinix Note 5

Just like Samsung, Infinix also have a line of high end/flagship phablet smartphones called the Note(s). And in 2018 the company added to it’s Note line the Infinix Note 5 and Note 5 Pro. The Pro being the alpha version of the Note 5 just like it’s name suggest. For it a different article has been done. Below are the main features of the subject smartphone.

Below is an in depth analysis of it.

Design and build

I’ll start by saying Infinix Note 5 is as beautiful as you wouldn’t expect. Yes, wouldn’t I said. It has a shiny back that mimics a glass build yet it, in reality is plastic. Funny how Infinix managed to make it this way since surprisingly it doesn’t attract fingerprint smudges. On shinny back still is a primary camera (with flash) on the top left corner, a fingerprint scanner at the top middle, NOTE branding at the bottom just above Android One Branding as well. I will talk about Android one later on in this review. The front has that full HD display, a top bezel with selfie camera, led flash and call speaker as well while the bottom bezel has been kept clean. The bottom of this phone has a micro USB port and a bottom firing speaker. At large that’s what constitutes the body of the Infinix Note 5.

Display and camera

Display

The display here is a 2.5D protected IPS LCD panel with 2160 x 1080 pixels resolution. It is a very decent one with great viewing angles. Argue ably this is the best display Infinix has ever made on any of it’s smartphones so far. It is vibrant and very vivid, even visible when in outdoor conditions. I love that there is 2.5D glass protection to ensure durability and protection during accidental drops.

Camera

The cameras of the Note 5 are surely the main selling points of this phone. It boasts an impressive 12MP primary camera and another 16MP front facing camera. The back lens comes with a dual LED flash to enhance photo quality in low light shots. As already mentioned both shooters are quite good and as test score they achieve a B+ grade in my assessment.

Performance and memory

Platform

Believe it or not, Infinix has decided to dump their custom UI for Google’s very own Android One 8.1 Oreo. Yes, now software updates will always hit your phone. Android one has quite a number of ups that this article may not allow me to discuss, but do check and learn about it online. It rocks a MediaTek Helio P23 chipset, an Octa-Core 2.0 GHz CPU and a Mali G71 MP2 GPU.

Memory

You can expand its 32GB internal storage with an SD card (dedicated slot for this function) and it runs on 3GB RAM.

Battery

Infinix claims the Note 5’s 4500mAh non removable battery will last up to 3 days of mixed usage. Now that’s big. I personally prefer phones that have great battery performance. On board is fast charging so you need not worry about your phone taking a whole day to charge.

This is a phone I would most definitely recommend without hesitation. Buy an Infinix Note 5 smartphone at Phone Place Kenya  today.
