Infinix Smart 3 Plus

Ever wondered why only high end and flagship smartphones have triple camera (or more) setup? Have you ever stopped to ask why we do not see the same on budget smartphones? I’ll tell you why- because the tech is expensive. Well, maybe not for Infinix. Meet the most affordable triple camera smartphone, Infinix Smart 3 Plus. And as if that were not enough, this is and AI camera phone. AI is abbreviation for Artificial Intelligence.

What scares me about this triple camera setup inclusion is if it comes at the cost of sacrificing other important and also valued features, like performance for example. Should that be the case then to whom will I want to recommend this smartphone, and why? Stick around you will find out shortly.

Design and build

Okay let us get the obvious out of the way. On the back we see a triple camera setup with LED flash on the top right corner. All four are in vertical orientation and are housed within a dark bar. To the right of the setup and in the upper middle is the rear mounted fingerprint scanner which has Infinix branding just below it. at the very bottom we also see SMART 3 Plus branding.

Facing you is its display panel with a dew-drop notch. You will love how slim and reduced the bezels are here. Another thing you might love because of the comfort it provides is how rounded the corners are here and the same has been replicated on the display. power button it below the volume rocker and the build is blue, purple or red plastic seeing it weigh about 148 grams.

Display and camera

Display

Infinix Smart 3 Plus’s display is fairly decent. This I attribute to it 269 ppi density and probably 720 x 1520 pixels resolution. It is an LTPS IPS LCD capacitive touchscreen that has support for 16M colors, covers an area of 97.4 cm2 with an 81.6% screen-to-body ratio. 19:9 ratio is decent for a display panel of this size. Yeah so this might be one of those departments Infinix made compromises with to achieve a triple camera phone

Camera

There is much to be reported here, but for the sake of quick insight I shall be precise. We get three cameras on the back. The first is the main 13 MP, f/1.8. It is supported by a 2 MP depth sensor for image separation and a third lens QVGA that comes in handy in low light photography. Another thing that’ll come in handy for low light photography is its Dual-LED flash. Performance-wise you shall get impressive images with these cameras, else this smartphone would have been the most useless piece of hardware from Infinix, luckily- it isn’t.

Be informed that there is a selfie camera on board and it is an 8MP shooter which records video with the same 1080p@30fps video as the primary camera.

Platform and performance

Platform

On board is Android 9.0 (Pie) with Infinix’s own customized theming.

Performance

A budget MediaTek smartphone this is with a Mediatek MT6761 Helio A22 (12 nm) chipset, a Quad-core 2.0 GHz Cortex-A53 CPU and PowerVR GE8320 GPU. Heads up, if you are a power user then the wisest thing to do will be considering other Infinix smartphone. check the out at Phone Place Kenya today- alongside more smartphone options available at unbeatable prices. Storage

Infinix Smart 3 Plus has a 32 GB internal storage which can be expanded using a microSD card and it runs on either 2 or 3 GB RAM which is fairly okay.

Battery

What isn’t fairly okay is its long-lasting battery of 3500 mAh battery capacity. This is a V= Non-removable Li-Po battery.

Okay, the verdict here is: whereas the camera has managed to bring the triple lens setup to this price range, there are a few hitches you may have to live with. No heavy usage for example like playing heavy games and the likes due to the close to basic performance of Infinix Smart 3 Plus. Still it remains a great budget smartphone option with impressive camera performance. An option I would recommend at its price point.
