It is available in colors Black, Gray and Blue. Now it doesn’t take a genius to tell this is a budget smartphone. I can already tell my audience from the above list and here is what. If you are looking to buy a good smartphone at an extremely unbelievable price point, then look no further than Lenovo K5. But be sure to compare it with other smartphones of the same price at Phone Place Kenya. Below are my thoughts on be subject smartphone.
Design and build
It is a plastic body budget smartphone that measures 153.8 x 72.7 x 7.8 mm and weighs about 160 grams. Now on very rare occasion will you find a phone weigh that, that isn’t of plastic build. The detail on the back though is quite attractive with a glossy back panel. We see two camera on the top left in horizontal orientation with an LED flash to the left of them.
At the bottom of the back is LENOVO branding. A rear mounted fingerprint scanner you shall also see at the back of this device. Front has a clean bottom bezel and a top one that houses the usual selfie camera, call speaker and a bunch of sensors. There is an LED notification light I presume? Hopefully there is. It is a typical Lenovo smartphone you can easily tell it is one by just looking.
Display and camera
What do we have here? An IPS LCD capacitive touchscreen is what you get on the Lenovo K5 32GB. It is a 16M colors display that has multi touch functionality. Its 5.7 inches panel qualifies it to be a phablet smartphone, with a large display estate you will enjoy interacting with. With it covering 83.8 cm2 (~75.0% screen-to-body ratio) it mostly is good for entertainment, like watching videos or playing games. 720 x 1440 pixels, 18:9 ratio (~282 ppi density) is the resolution this phone comes with and is bright most times. It is brightness that has been paid attention to here.
The primary camera is a 13 MP, f/2.0, AF lens + a 5 MP, f/2.2 depth sensor. I think it is an above average lens that shoots okay pics. An LED flash is available here and features of the camera include HDR and panorama. Although video quality for the selfie camera has not been listed, I can report that the primary camera shoots video up to 720p@30fps.
The front facing camera is a 8 MP, f/2.0 lens. 8MP is decent pixel count for a budget smartphone.
Performance and memory
What Lenovo K5 offers here is just about what I expected. It runs on Android 7.1 (Nougat). A Mediatek smartphone with an MT6750V/CB chipset, an Octa-core (4×1.5 GHz Cortex-A53 & 4×1.0 GHz Cortex-A53) CPU and a Mali-T860MP2 GPU. Good starts for a budget smartphone you will have to search deep and wide to find such.
Believe it or not, Lenovo K5 has 32 GB internal storage. But hey, that’s very believable. What wows me is that it runs on 3 GB of RAM. That’s really good. A microSD card can be used to expand internal storage up to 128 GB (uses SIM 2 slot).
Its Non-removable Li-Ion 3000 mAh battery should last up to a whole day or two of usage depending on your usage.
Buy you a new Lenovo K5 at Phone Place Kenya. Choose a black, blue or grey one. All look great but that all depends on preference.
