Nokia 3.1 C

We are all still being connected as people by Nokia. This time with Nokia 3.1 A, which is also called Nokia 3.1 C. The two vary in this way, they are both meant for the American market (but Phone Place Kenya pulls strings for you as always). 3.1 C (which is white in color) is for One carrier (Cricket) and 3.1 A (black) for another (AT & T). They are but one and the same thing. And for this reason, this review may word for word resemble that of Nokia 3.1 A which you will find somewhere on this website if you do not mind troubling yourself for a moment. Who knows, you might discover a treasure.

Below is a descriptive review of Nokia 3.1 C

Key features

(AT & T) and 3.1 C (white) for another (Cricket). They are but one and the same thing. And for this reason, this review will resemble the one for Nokia 3.1 C which you may find somewhere on this website if you could trouble yourself for a moment.

Design and build

Telling Nokia 3.1 C from 3.1 A is an easy task, considering each comes with its own color, and there are no other color options to choose from. Should you see white, know you are looking at Nokia 3.1 C. Facing you is its 5.45-inch display panel sandwiched between same size top and bottom bezels. The bottom bezel has been left untouched while the top has its usual inhabitants: Selfie camera, sensors, call speaker and Nokia branding. On that back is where you will see Nokia branding in vertical orientation and centrally placed in line with the primary camera and flash. At the bottom right is a speaker grill. It is a speaker grill because there is a speaker behind it- duh. This is a compact phone, comfortable for one hand usage considering 2019 standards. The build is plastic here and this sees the Nokia 3.1 C weigh about 156 grams.

Display and camera

Display

On budget smartphones as this, it is never a shock to see an IPS LCD capacitive touchscreen. It has kind of has become a thing. Nokia 3.1 C’s display has support for 16M colors and multitouch feature. The 5.45 inches panel covers a 76.7 cm2 area with a 69.8% screen-to-body ratio. This ratio would have been higher were it not for the bezels. Anyway, resolution is 720 x 1440 pixels, 18:9 ratio (~295 ppi density) which is okay. A bright screen it is at best.

Camera

Nokia 3.1 C’s primary camera is an 8 MP, f/2.0, AF lens while the selfie shooter an okay 5 MP, f/2.2 camera. I think both do an okay job as. Neither is the best of cameras in the market really, but also neither would be mentioned among the poorest of camera phones. I think they have met mind’s expectation, probably even surpassing price value limit.

Video recording capability on the other hand is as follows, 720p@30fps and 1080p@30fps for selfie and primary camera respectively.

Performance

Platform

Nokia 3.1 C just as 3.1 A is an Android 9.0 (Pie) smartphone. Hope for timely updates with it. It has Qualcomm SDM429 Snapdragon 429 chipset and a Quad-core 1.8 GHz Cortex-A53 CPU. To handle graphics Nokia included an Adreno 504 GPU with Nokia 3.1 C.

Storage

It has a 32 GB internal storage, and runs on 2 GB of RAM. This storage capacity is not limited since by slotting a microSD you can still expand it up to 128 GB additional storage space.

Battery

On paper the battery capacity of Nokia 3.1 A seems rather dismal- a non-removable Li-Ion 2990 mAh battery. The case being false real time though we would have loved to have a larger capacity. It will still last a whole day of usage. Fast battery charging 10W is the mode of juicing your phone when you are low on power.

Verdict

Ah, my verdict for Nokia 3.1 C is the same as the Nokia 3.1 A’s- go for it.
