Nokia 7 Plus

So in February of 2018 Nokia added yet another smartphone to their already fast growing lines of smartphones, the Nokia 7 Plus. This is most probably an improvement of the earlier Nokia 7 of 2017, hence the reason for this review. Just a reminder, NOKIA is very much serious about their come back to the market as you will see after reading through this review. Below are the main features of the Nokia 7 Plus. Design and build

As mentioned already, this smartphone has a front made of glass, a body made of 6000 series of aluminum and edges made of copper. Safe to say, there is no plastic material used at any point of the making of the Nokia 7 plus, that alone is a plus for me. Moving on, it stands at 158.4 mm tall and weighs just about 180 grams with 8mm thickness. I love the looks going with it. On the front there features symmetrical top and bottom bezels with the bottom left clean while the top having a central call speaker, selfie camera and sensors. On the back activity is concentrated in the middle with vertical orientation of the dual primary camera with the rear mounted fingerprint scanner below it. Further below is NOKIA branding. It has been kept simple here, and if you ask me, simple is good.

Display and camera

Display

Its 6.0 inches display panel has these features: 92.4cm2 , IPS LCD capacitive touch screen, 16M colors, 77.2% screen to body ratio, multi touch functionality and Corning Gorilla glass 3 protection to ensure durability of it. It comes with a 1080 x 2160 pixels resolution of 403 ppi pixel density which is mostly sharp. With great viewing angles and sunlight visibility there is no reason to complain about how this display holds up. Good job NOKIA.

Camera

Cameras on Nokia smartphones have a place in my scale, I think very highly of them and here, with the Nokia 7 plus my sentiments have not changed one bit. Now the primary camera is a great dual 12MP + 12MP shooter that has gyro Optical Image Stabilization and a dual LED flash. Isn’t that just great? Also other features like dual pixel phase detection auto focus, and 2x optical zoom just to mention a few are on board here.  I love the effort NOKIA has put with these Carl Zeiss cameras. Video recording with it is 4K. the selfie camera is yet another impressive 16MP shooter. A phone I would readily recommend to photo lovers, this one will steal your heart.

Performance and memory

Platform

It runs Android 8.1 Oreo  straight out of its purchase package has a Qualcomm Snapdragon 660 an Octa core (4 x 2.2 GHz Kyro 260 & 4 x 1.8 GHz Kyro 260) CPU and an Adreno 512 GPU. Good specs for a mid range smartphone if you ask me, cannot complain.

Storage

We only get one version of this smartphone and it is one with 64 GB of internal memory and runs on 4GB of RAM. I think the performance and memory of this Nokia 7 plus is very impressive. Expect a smooth and seamless experience with it.

Battery

It was great to see Nokia adding fast battery charging capability here for Nokia 7 plus’s descent 3800mAh battery. It should hold up to a whole day of moderate mixed usage. With it you get up to 19 hours of 3G talk time. check out more reviews of this phone here
