Nokia 8810 4G

As to why Nokia is consistently “resurrecting” it’s good old phones I do not know. We saw them bring back the 3310 in 2017, and again they have done it. I’m not sure the 8810 was as popular as the 3310, but little matter because it still was a Nokia phone back in the days. Let t be remembered that 2018 Nokia 8810, the banana ? phone made it’s comeback as Nokia 8810 4G, still a banana phone. I’ll explain banana shortly. Below is a list of its key features.

  • GSM / HSPA / LTE network technology. Yes this phone is 4G enabled
  • Single SIM (Micro-SIM) or Dual SIM (Micro-SIM, dual stand-by)

Look, I was laughing my way down the specs list. I mean, and just for example this phone has Wi-Fi people. So cool. Below is an in depth review.

Design and build

A banana phone. You must be wondering what that means, no? Well it’s as simple as this- Nokia 8810 4G is a has a curved banana shaped body. Simple as. And for Nokia to release a banana yellow model should speak for itself already. Anyways it is a compact phone as one would expect, measuring 133.5 x 49.3 x 14.9 mm and weighing just about 117 grams.

Comes with an all plastic body which is interestingly IP54 drip resistant. Something even smartphones do not have. It’s design and build’s biggest deal is that slide cover on the physical keypad that lights up the display when slid down and vice versa. It is a very satisfying thing to do just sliding that cover out and back. I could do that all day. Yeah and it has Nokia branding above it’s display and a primary camera on the back. That’s mostly it for the build and design.

Performance and memory

Well, it comes running on Kai OS which has its own store for downloading some of the best apps offered (using 4G speeds of course). This OS is very simple to get along with. Anyone will. It has a Qualcomm MSM8905 Snapdragon 205 chipset, a Dual-core (2×1.1 GHz Cortex-A7) CPU and Adreno 304 GPU. I’m very okay with these performance specs on this phone.

Internal storage is expandable up to 64 GB and it runs on 512MB of RAM. It would be ridiculous to ask for more here so, nothing to complain about at all.

Display and camera

The display is a decent 2.4 inches TFT panel. Not a touch screen I must disclaim so you’ll have to navigate with direction keys, the old skull way. But that really is the idea, to bring back the old skull touch to this smartphone generation.

Only one camera available here and it is a 2MP shooter with an LED flash and geo tagging featute.

Battery

Probably the best part of this phone. It has a removable battery no doubt. One of capacity 1500 mAh. Expect you get up to 600 hours on standby here. A battery beast. Trust this, sometimes you’ll end up forgetting where the charger is- reason being you will rarely need to charge this baby. So of you are hoping for longer days on charge then let your hope be built on nothing else.
