Again you can not be too careful with words lest you fall short. What then? First I advice this article’s reader to spend a minute or two gazing at OnePlus 7T Pro McLaren Edition pictures.
That’s right, the return here and read proof what will be said. Design and build
This is OnePlus 7T with a touch of McLaren, safe to say, class with a touch of speed. No! It does not have the build or look of a car. Refuse such imaginations. Rather OnePlus 7T Pro McLaren is McLaren themed in colour, design and feel. Its build is still glass with aluminum frames. But on the back and edges you will notice something catchy.
The edges have McLaren orange highlight while the back panel has a pattern that turns back to black when tilted. The pattern is the same one on the steering wheel of McLaren speed cars. Not that I have been in a McLaren before but, this phone gets me there. It is simply beautiful, what a phone.
Turning out attention to the borderless display panel we see, well, a borderless display panel. It is slightly curved at the edges giving it a premium look and finish. Beneath this display is the fingerprint scanner and the selfie camera is a pop up hardware. For lack of better words, OnePlus 7T McLaren Edition is a beautiful beast. Of its beauty have attempted to paint, now to the beast mode features.
Display and camera
You will notice some exclusive icons made only for this phone. Apart from that this one’s display type is Fluid AMOLED capacitive touchscreen. Let us say it this way; it wasn’t just enough for it to be AMOLED, and we all know how reputable AMOLED panels are. It was paramount that it exceeds expectation by making it Fluid AMOLED.
You are looking at a HDR10+ compliant display here with 90Hz refresh rate. Now that’s McLaren fast. On a 6.67 inches panel 1440 x 3120 pixels resolution is beyond perfect, more than needed, exceedingly and abundantly more than one would imagine. Be on the know that Corning Gorilla Glass 6 protects it from all sorts of avoidable scratches.
Will you now think that a primary camera 48 MP, f/1.6, (wide) with Laser AF and OIS will let you down? No! What of an 8 MP, f/2.4, (telephoto), OIS, 3x optical zoom? No!
How about OnePlus 7T Pro McLaren’s 16 MP, f/2.2, 13mm (ultra wide), AF lens? This too will out perform most, if not all of its competition. Hear this, video recording here is 2160p@30/60fps, 1080p@30/60/240fps, 720p@960fps and it is in Auto HDR with gyro- EIS.
The selfie camera is a motorized pop-up 16 MP, f/2.0, 25mm (wide), 1/3.1″, 1.0µm that has auto-HDR feature and shoots 1080p@30fps videos also with gyro- EIS. Image stabilization in videography is key, OnePlus knows this too well and hardly overlooks it here.
Performance and memory
OnePlus 7T Pro McLaren runs the latest Android software in Android 10.0 with clean OxygenOS version 10.0. It is powered by a Qualcomm SDM855 Snapdragon 855+ (7 nm) chipset and an Octa-core (1×2.96 GHz Kryo 485 & 3×2.42 GHz Kryo 485 & 4×1.78 GHz Kryo 485) CPU. At the same time an Adreno 640 (700 MHz) GPU ensures graphics are well handled and managed especially during heavy tasks like gaming. Ah this phone, with this performance wills stand any heavy software or apps you throw at it. You name it. This is a phone built for smoothness.
Let this sink in. OnePlus 7T Pro McLaren has 12GB of RAM. And I think I will rest my comments at that. Its internal storage is 256GB.
Its non-removable Li-Po 4085 mAh battery should easily see you through a day of usage. And there is yet another catch here on battery performance. Its fast battery charging 30W (Warp Charge) is the fastest Warp Charge ever.
With it you will go from 0-68% is 30 short minutes. And 68% alone will be enough to see you through a whole day of usage. The charger comes with an exclusive flat braided cable.
OnePlus 7T Pro McLaren is available in one exclusive colour. OnePlus calls it McLaren Edition which constitutes Gloss Black, McLaren Orange and McLaren Pattern. This is a high end flagship smartphone that out-stands its competition by far. Presenting it to you brand new is Phone Place Kenya. And unboxing it is a satisfying experience in itself.
