Design and build

The Oppo F11 may share some internal feature with the F11 Pro (and rightly so) but externally the two can be very easily differentiated (also rightly so). Here we see a tough plastic back panel with its functional and non-functional content aligned centrally and vertically. I speak of the dual camera, the flash, fingerprint scanner which sits below the latter and Oppo branding.

The front part on the other had has a dew drop front facing camera on its 6.53 inches display panel. Whereas the F11 Pro aimed to achieve a bezel-less smartphone with a motorized selfie camera, the case is not the same here since we see a dew drop camera. Regardless, the Oppo F11 still has an appealing look going for it. No love lost since in return you get a slightly curved back that not only improves grip and comfort in the hand but also adds to its already attractive looks.

Display and camera

I think it has the same display as the Pro, well for its 6.53 inches panel size for the very least. It is an LTPS IPS LCD capacitive touchscreen (16M colors) with 1080 x 2340 pixels resolution, 19.5:9 ratio and ~394 ppi density. Screen to body ratio is at 85.3% which allows you the most of you display estate. Outdoor visibility is slightly as good as indoors and color reproduction (blues especially) is as good as it gets. Its Panoramic Screen design offers an uninterrupted screen space for ultimate viewing pleasure.

First, I will talk about the selfie camera. It is a 16 MP lens with f/2.0 aperture and 1/3.1″, 1.0µm. I can confidently report that with it comes High Definition Recording and 1080p@30fps video recording. Talk about clean, clear, and crispy selfie pictures. Now anytime you think of these three, think Oppo F11. The primary camera on the back is a dual 16MP + 5MP (depth sensor lens) that boasts its Ultra Night Mode and Dazzle color mode. Video recording with it is 1080p@30fps max although we would have wished for 4K video recording here since it has the ability to handle the same.

Performance and memory

It is here that a phone’s category is decided. Oppo F11 has a Mediatek Helio P70 (12nm) chipset, an Octa-core (4×2.1 GHz Cortex-A73 & 4×2.0 GHz Cortex-A53) CPU, and a Mali-G72 MP3 GPU. These are strong midrange specifications hence the F11 is a mid-range smartphone. It warms my heart to see the latest software updates installed (as at the time of review) in Android 9.0 (Pie); ColorOS 6.

The prime model comes with 128 GB + 6 GB RAM whereas the base model has 64 GB internal storage with 4 GB RAM. I love that either’s internal storage can be expanded using microSD, up to 256 GB (uses SIM 2 slot). You may also like Oppo F11 Pro.

Battery

Its non-removable Li-Po 4020 mAh battery is charged with a quick battery charging 20W (VOOC 3.0) and is long-lasting as you would expect of a 4020 mAh battery. Now depending on one’s usage, the lengths of periods on charge will vary – see  also Oppo A12s

Pros of the F11 Cons of the F11
  • Great design and solid build
  • Impressive cameras
  • Long-lasting battery life
  • Good display
  • Good sound quality
  • Great user experience
  • MicroUSB
  • No 4K Video recording

Oppo F11 is an affordable mid-range smartphone (affordable considering its features). It is available in colors Fluorite Purple, Marble Green, and Jewelry White. Buy yours today at Phone Place Kenya.
