This is the review of the 2017 Samsung Galaxy J3 Pro. Samsung seems to have decided not to end the production of the J line of Galaxy Smartphones. This line started back in 2015 with the Samsung Galaxy J7, J5 and J3 (all 2015 models). The line has since been maintained and we keep seeing more and more J smartphones year in and out. This article will highlight the main features of the Samsung Galaxy J3 Pro and talk about them in brief. With that said, let us see what this smartphone has to offer.
Design and build
The Samsung Galaxy J3 Pro has a familiar Samsung J design. It almost looks almost the same as previous J3s we have seen in 2015 and 16. The front side of this phone has a call speaker, a proximity sensor and a selfie camera (on the top bezel). The bottom bezel on the other hand has the centrally placed physical home button with the back and recent soft keys to its left and right respectively. It has a 5.0 inches display panel. The back of this smartphone has a round primary camera with an LED flash besides it and Samsung branding on the middle top. It features a shinning metal design the Samsung Galaxy J3 Pro and weighs just 139 grams. It has these dimensions- 142.2 mm x 71.3 mm x 8 mm. The look it has is quite simple and is very clean.
As earlier mentioned, the display on the Galaxy J3 Pro is 5.0 inches of 68% screen to body ratio. It has a resolution of 720 x 1280 pixels (294 ppi pixel density) and supports multi touch and 16 M colors. The display is decent, with good sunlight readability and color representation. It is Super AMOLED display, that explains why it is very impressive. The side bezels of the Samsung Galaxy J3 Pro are slim to allow a wider display estate of its relatively large screen.
We get two cameras here. An 8 MP primary camera with aperture f/2.2, autofocus and an LED flash. The secondary camera on the other hand is a 5MP shooter of aperture f/2.2. Both these cameras take some really nice photos as one would expect with a Samsung J smartphone. One will however love the primary camera best I have to note. Some of the camera features on board are geo-tagging, touch focus, face detection and panorama.
Performance and memory
The Samsung Galaxy J3 Pro is a mid-range smartphone. The below described features explain why.
It comes with a Qualcomm Snapdragon 410 Chipset, an Octa-core 1.2 GHz Cortex A53 CPU and Adreno 306 GPU and runs Android lollipop 5.1.
The performance of the Galaxy J3 Pro is fine, very minimal stutter and hanging.
It comes with 2GB of RAM and 16 GB expandable memory up to 256 GB using an SD card.
Communication and network
Wi-Fi, Wi-Fi Direct, hotspot
GPS with A GPS, GLONASS
FM Radio with RDS Recording
Micro USB 2.0 USB On the Go
3.5 mm jack
Network> Dual SIM with dual standby – GSM, HSPA and LTE
It comes with a removable 2600mAh battery. Capacity enough to last a full day of mixed usage.
It is a very good budget smartphone the Samsung Galaxy J3 Pro. I love that is has decent platform and camera performance, and also that it comes with a non removable battery. It is a mid-ranger I would confidently recommend. It comes with the choice of three colors- Black, White and Gold.
