Samsung Galaxy J8
Galaxy J Series is a mid range line of smartphones by the South Korean company Samsung. It’s most popular smartphone is 2015’s Samsung Galaxy J7. But time has passed, a lot has changed and it is 2018 now. Time to move on to even greater heights and in an attempt to do so, Samsung brings to us the Samsung Galaxy J8. This article will review it in depth. But first a quick look at its main features.

I may have some petty complain about little matters micro USB instead of type C connector. Like seriously Samsung, it is 2018. But as mentioned this really is a very little matter. The rest of the phone is very much okay as you will find out down below.
Design and build
Samsung has gone all out with the design of the Galaxy J8. It doesn’t look anything like its fore fathers. In fact, it does take a little after some Samsung flagships. That aside. The back of it looks very neat with the camera above fingerprint scanner and SAMSUNG label as well. They are aligned centrally. The front has an Infinity display (side bezels stretch all the way to the edge). Whereas the top bezel has the selfie lens, sensors and call speaker, the bottom bezel has been left undisturbed. I love the looks of the Galaxy J8 to be honest. And I am sure many more will too.
Display and camera
The display on this phone like on many other Samsung phones is Super AMOLED capacitive touchscreen. This display type is considered the best in the market so far and very few smartphone companies manage to afford it. It is super impressive as you would expect of an AMOLED display. Resolution on this enormous 6.0 inches display is 720 x 1480 pixels, 18.5:9 ratio (~274 ppi density). Corning Gorilla glass protection is also on deck.
Primary: Dual: 16 MP (f/1.7) + 5 MP (f/1.9), autofocus and LED flash. It comes with features like Geo-tagging, touch focus, face detection, panorama, HDR and has 1080p@30fps video recording capability. I love this camera really. It does take some really great looking photos.
The selfie camera is yet another impressive 16MP shooter with an LED flash as well. For camera performance on the J8 i say 7/10.
Performance and memory
I think after numerous complains Samsung finally decided to include the latest software on their new smartphones. Here an Android 8.0 (Oreo) powered device it is with Qualcomm SDM450 Snapdragon 450 chipset an Octa-core 1.8 GHz Cortex-A53 CPU and an Adreno 506 GPU is what you get.
64GB with 4GB RAM is no mediocre storage. Kudos for this Samsung. And still, with microSD card memory can be boosted up to 256 GB (dedicated slot).
We really cannot ask for here given how Samsung never really goes al out with battery capacity. Surprisingly we get a Non-removable Li-Ion 3500 mAh battery on the galaxy J8. Capacity enough to comfortably go a whole day until next charge is required.
