Design and build
If you truly are a fan of Samsung, and if truly you keenly and carefully follow their products then the statement that will follow this one should not be a surprise to you. The looks and feel of Galaxy M30s are typical and same (with very few needed changes) as that on any other M smartphone by the company. This a not a bad thing since there have been no serious complains about the design of this phone. I speak about is camera placement on the top left back, rear mounted fingerprint scanner on the middle top and Samsung branding below it.
On the front is that U-shaped notch wherein is the selfie camera, the display panel and a bottom bezel. Yes, who is not familiar with all these? Nonetheless, the phone looks and feels great even in its plastic form. Of course, the volume rocker and power button are on the right-hand side and the display corner are curved in a manner similar to the actual curves of the phones- that’s really neat. One other thing I must mention is that it is 8.9mm thick- and this for the very reason I am excited about this phone.
Display and camera
Has Samsung ever disappointed with its displays? Not even once that I can remember, especially when the choice display type is Super AMOLED capacitive touchscreen- which is the case for Samsung Galaxy M30s. This is 6.4 inches that covers an area of 98.9 cm2 and has 1080 x 2400 pixels, 20:9 ratio (~411 ppi density) resolution. Boy (also Girl) 1080 x 2400 pixels is simply crisp.
I do not know what other word I can use to display it to your imagination, hoping you will notice the pun as well. It is just a joy to look at this screen. You will also take pleasure in learning that it has great viewing angles and great outdoor readability- two things you wouldn’t want your smartphone to lack.
Really, with the kind of display it has, the camera performance can only be better. Samsung Galaxy M30s primary camera is made up of three (separate) lenses. The first, which is the main, is a 48 MP, f/2.0 wide lens, then there is that 8 MP ultrawide shooter with f/2.2 and lastly a 5 MP, f/2.2 depth sensor. Video recording with it is 2160p@30fps, 1080p@30fps with gyro-EIS for the latter.
Of course, there is a selfie camera and it is a superb 16 MP, f/2.0 lens indwelling the U-shaped notch. With it you will get 1080p@30fps video recording quality. Give it an 8 out of 10 camera performance the Galaxy M30s, it earns it.
Samsung Galaxy M30s runs Android 9.0 (Pie) with One UI– which is a Samsung skin. It is powered by an Exynos 9611 (10nm) chipset, and its processing is ensured by the octa-core (4×2.3 GHz Cortex-A73 & 4×1.7 GHz Cortex-A53) CPU within and matters pertaining graphics are as they are thanks to its Mali-G72 MP3 GPU. What do you think? This is a midrange smartphone yes, but a high performing one for that matter.
Storage and memory
Choose between two models of M30s with respect to ROM and ram. The latter will cost more by default. 64GB 4GB RAM or 128GB 6GB RAM. Both have support for internal storage expansion using microSD and up to 1 TB (dedicated slot). Did I mention 6GB of RAM? What a beast.
Okay (drumrolls) this is it (drumrolls). The battery. Yes, reader this is what you have been waiting for all this time. Wait for it is going to be worth it. A non-removable Li-Po 6000 mAh battery. That’s right. 6,000- I even feel the length of days it will go as I type that capacity. Once more, 6000mAh. Unbelievable.
This is not your average one-day smartphone before next charge. We’re talking 2½ minimum. Take out word for it. And this is why this phone is 8.9mm thick- to allow room to fit this battery capacity. Unbelievable. It is charged with fast battery charging 15W with the provided charger.
