SONY XPERIA L1

Sony quietly announced a new budget phone for that user looking for some pretty decent features in a not so expensive Xperia smartphone. Released in June 2017 the L1, successor to the L1 stands at 151 tall, 74mm wide and 8.7mm thick weighing 123 grams.it is an interesting phone given its price tag versus the features it offers. It looks to be Sony’s attempt to crack the mid to low-range market, coming with some distinctly moderate hardware under its sleeves. Below are its specification.

Design and Build

The build of the sony xperia  L1 is plastic. Well this should not be a downside given he specs this device packs. Personally, I wouldn’t throw away what it offers just for its material. Not that the build is bad or anything, the L1 still has respectable looks. It has a dedicated camera button and volume rocker on the left side and the power button is on the left. Its build material also helps a little in grip so your phone won’t keep sliding off your hands or pockets, which is a good thing.

Display

The sony xperia L1 has a 5.5 inch display with 74.6% screen-to-body ratio. The panel is an IPS LCD capacitive touchscreen, with a resolution of 720 x 1280 pixels (267 ppi pixel density). Its colors are good enough and the display on the 5.5 inch screen is also visible in direct sunlight. It also supports multi touch up to four fingers and the screen comes with Sony’s scratch resistant glass protection which has been on Xperia phone lately. Tests do show this glass really doesn’t scratch much.

Camera

The  sony xperia L1 has a main / rear camera of 13 MP. It has auto focus with is ISO 3200. With its F2.2 camera lens this camera takes pictures 3 times clear image zoom. The images look sharp and do not lose a lot of detail when zoomed into.

Its secondary / selfie cam is 5 MP with a 24mm wide angle lens F 2.2. The wide selfie camera is becoming a signature for Xperia phones, and it is great since it takes a picture of all your friends in the selfie shoot.

Performance and Memory

All 2017 Xperia smartphones ship with Android Nougat 7.0 and so does the  sony xperia L1. It rocks a Mediatek MT6737Tchipset, Quad-core 1.45 GHz Cortex-A53 CPU and a Mali-T720MP2 GPU.

With 16 GB of internal memory which can be extended up to 256 GB with a micro SD card, the L1 packs 2GB of RAM for running its system processes.

Connectivity and Network

Connectivity:-The L1 supports Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n, Wi-Fi Direct, hotspot, Bluetooth 4.3, GPS with A-GPS, GLONASS, BDS, NFC, an FM Radio and a USB 2.0, Type-C 1.0 reversible connector. It is dual sim with dual stand by, and supports uses nano SIM.

Network:- It supports EDGE / GPRS for 2G, UMTS HSPA+ for 3G and LTE 4G band.

Other Features

Battery: A non-removable 2620 mAh battery is what’s packed in the Xperia L1. This might not be the best battery capacity for a 5.5 inch display but it will surely see you go through the day. There is a STAMINA MODE option for battery optimization to see the charge last longer.

The battery with last up to 687 hours on standby with 3G network and 11 hours 30 minutes of talk time on 3G.

Sound:  It supports Vibration; MP3, WAV ringtones alert types, has a good loudspeaker and a 3.5 mm jack to connect your earphones to. Like mentioned at the start of this review, this is a pocket friendly and cost considerate device. I’d say for its cost, it has more to offer than its rivals at that same price range. I recommend this one to a user in the market just looking for a good Xperia at a very affordable price,

This one comes in three colors to choose from, Black, White and Pink.
