TECNO added to its line two phones whose main selling point was their battery capacity. These are the TECNO L9 which whose review is this and the TECNO L9 Plus check it out: https://phoneplacekenya.com/product/tecno-l9-plus/ . The market really loved these phones judging from how quickly they fly off displays. Anyway TECNO L9 is the smaller brother of the L9 Plus and this is an overview of what more than an excellent battery performance it has to offer. Let’s dig in.
Design and build
TECNO L9, first its face has some nicely crafted bezel that allow for a wider screen space. The top bezel has an earpiece, a sensor, a flash and a selfie camera. The bottom one has three capacitive touch buttons, the back, recent and home virtual button. On the back is a camera and a fingerprint sensor for enhanced security. TECNO is among the phones that add a fingerprint scanner on affordable phones. Yeah then in the upper middle of the phone’s back is TECNO’S branding. Its all metal design makes the phone feel food in the hand. It stands at 155.5 x 69.78 x 8.90 mm in dimension.
This phone comes with a 5.5 inch IPS display panel of 720 x 1280 resolution. We do not have the ppi pixel density on paper for TECNO L9 but I have to say, the display is above average. It is not the best you will get out there, but for its price, you will appreciate what you see. Visibility outdoors is okay and the screen does get slightly bright when you need it to. The 5.5 inch panel looks bigger than it is, thanks to whatever TECNO did with this phones build to bring that about.
We get two cameras with the TECNO L9, a primary 8MP with LED flash and a front facing 2MP camera. I have no grievances with the primary camera but the selfie one, argh it is not a very good shooter although it comes with the bonus of optimization for video calls. But again this phone was not designed to be a camera phone but a power device. But you will still get some averagely good looking pictures with the primary shooter.
Performance and memory
TECNO L9 is a MediaTek 6572 device with a 1.3 GHz Quad-core processor. It comes with 16 GB of internal memory which can be expanded to 32 GB using an SD card. And, it runs on 2 GB of RAM.
The battery on this phone was the main point of focus. TECNO was looking to make a phone whose battery would last up to three days of moderate and 2 of full out usage. This was fully achieved with this phone. It has an outstanding standby time of 250 hours, that is 10 days plus. If you have been looking for a phone that will keep you going for days and days, look no further here is a solution for you.
It is a 4500mAh battery here, and considering the screen size of the TECNO L9 and the processing power, this battery will surely last up to three days. It is a power beast just like its bigger brother.
The loudspeaker can get very loud, typical TECNO. There is a 3.5mm jack and some nice earphones are provided for the same.
Connectivity and network
There is support for GPS, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, OTG (an OTG connector provided by TECNO) and it comes with microUSB 2.0. An FM Radio is also included here for those who mind, like I.
Network: dual sim with dual standby. GSM/WCDMA, GSM/EDGE: 900/1800 and WCDMA: 2100, or just 2G, 3G and 4G TECNO.
This TECNO L9 is a good phone. Besides being extremely good with its battery, it also comes with some pretty nice things to offer. It is built to last and it will handle basic smartphone operations just okay. I do recommend the TECNO L9.
