This, to me is a mid range smartphone. An in depth analysis of it follows now.
Design and build
It measures 151 x 76 x 8.5 mm and weighs just about 165 grams. I love that there is only glass (front) and aluminum (rest of the phone) build(s) on the Xiaomi Redmi Note 4. That metal (aluminum) on the back gives this phone a good grip when held in the hand.
On the back we see the antennae lines on the top and bottom 1/16. Just below the top antennae line is the primary camera (centrally placed) and the fingerprint scanner below it, with LED flash between them. The front is kept clean with the top bezel housing the selfie camera and call speaker while the bottom one has touch keys for recent, home and back keys in that very order.
I think the design is mostly simple, which is okay for me.
Display and camera
Its IPS LCD capacitive touch screen is a 5.5 inches panel that covers 83.4% of the front part of Xiaomi Redmi Note 4. Its 72.7% screen to body ratio allows for a large display estate for you to enjoy your interactions with your Note 4. Watching movies and playing games for example is very enjoyable on this smartphone. It has 1080 x 1920 pixels resolution, a 16:9 aspect ratio and a 401 ppi density.
Yes there is 16M color support and multi touch functionality on the Xiaomi Redmi Note 4.
We see two cameras here. The primary camera is a 13MP primary camera with phase detection autofocus, dual LED dual tone flash, features like: geo tagging, touch focus, face detection, panorama and HDR.
Video recording kicks in at 1080p@30fps while the selfie camera is a 5MP shooter with f/2.o aperture.
Camera performance here on a 1-10 scale is 7.
Performance and memory
It comes running on and android version that can be upgraded to Android Nougat 7.0. also on deck is a Qualcomm Snapdragon 625 chipset, an Octa-core 2.0GHz Cortex A 53 CPU and you get anAdreno 506 GPU to do the graphics processing.
There are two versions of the Xiaomi Redmi Note 4: 64GB + 4GB RAM or 32GB + 3GB RAM. The good news is, internal memory can be expanded up to 256GB using an SD card. It uses the SIM 2 slot for this function.
It has loudspeaker of course, comes with a 3.5mm jack that gives 24 bit / 192 kHz audio and has active noise cancellation with dedicated mic.
Its non-removable 4100mAh battery will surely last up to two days of mixed usage. I’m thinking the battery performance of this phone is its main selling point. Here, bet you won’t be let down.
