Xiaomi Redmi Note 8 Pro

Finally it arrived. I am making reference to Xiaomi Redmi Note 8 Pro which was released alongside the base model Redmi Note 8. Let’s us put it this way, if the latter leaves you with more to desire about it then you can always look at this one. They are one and the same phones yes, but this one boasts better performance and stronger specifications, both on paper and real time. Below is a descriptive review of it by Phone Place Kenya, Kenya’s most preferred smartphone dealer.

Design and build

Of tall and elegant smartphones. If ever there was such a thing as modeling in the smartphone world then Xiaomi Redmi Note 8 Pro would have qualified as a super model. It is tall at 164mm and the beauty of it words may not fully describe. I must mention that its build is of glass and metal frames. And that gives it a classy finish. You can tell it from its base model by noticing that camera (main) placement is centralized and Redmi logo is in horizontal orientation. Of course there are other differentiating factors that I’d note had this been a comparison review. The front panel is graced by a dew drop notch and slim bezels – neat.

Display and camera

Display

The display panel here is a 6.53 inches on a surface area of  104.7 cm2. The ~84.9% screen-to-body ratio estate is an IPS LCD capacitive touchscreen that has support for 16M colors and multi touch feature. With its sharp 1080 x 2340 pixels resolution you will surely appreciate the keenness of detail here while viewing content on it. ~395 ppi density makes it fairly easy to read in direct sunlight. One last thing about it is that it has Corning Gorilla Glass protection which ensures its durability and resistance to scratches and the likes.

Camera

Let us shift our focus to the camera performance here. And what we are dealing with is of great importance to both Xiaomi and to the ones who will get their hands on this phone. Behold, a primary camera of 64 MP, f/1.9, 26mm (wide), 1/1.7″, 0.8µm, PDAF. If you will forget everything else I have said about this phone, do not forget that it has one of the best cameras in the market. The three other lenses you see on the back are an 8 MP, f/2.2, 13mm (ultra wide), 1/4″, 1.12µm, a 2 MP, f/2.4, 1/5″, 1.75µm dedicated macro camera and a 2 MP, f/2.4, 1/5″, 1.75µm, depth sensor. Another thing you will love about it is that it shoot 2160p@30fps, 1080p@30/60/120fps, 720p@960fps videos with gyro- EIS, that is 4K. Take not of the selfie camera here which is 20 MP, f/2.0, 0.9µm. It you will also love.

Platform and memory

Performance

Here is a phone running Android 9.0 (Pie); MIUI 10 with a Mediatek Helio G90T (12nm) chipset, an Octa-core (2×2.05 GHz Cortex-A76 & 6×2.0 GHz Cortex-A55) CPU and a Mali-G76 MC4 GPU. These three are the reasons why Xiaomi Redmi Note 8 Pro performance is as swift as it, even graphics processing will impress you.

Storage

There are three models of it with respect to internal storage and memory (RAM). The first 64GB with 6GB RAM, the other 128GB with 6GB RAM and the last 128GB 8GB with RAM. All three can make use of a micro SD to expand internal storage up to 256 GB (uses shared SIM slot).

Battery

Xiaomi Redmi Note 8 Pro is a power horse packing a non-removable Li-Po 4500 mAh battery that is charged with fast battery charging 18W (with provided charger). This is capacity enough to see you through a whole day of usage and maybe a few more hours added to that if you aren’t a heavy user.

This is a budget option easy to suggest and commend. And that was Xiaomi Redmi Note 8 Pro for you. Even now, it is available for purchase alongside many other smartphones on this website.
